Lise Westfall, Pre-clinical Business Manager

Primary administrative agent of the Department with responsibilities including, but not limited to, finance, planning, human resources, operations, space/facilities, and special projects.


Kaye Sansoni, Assistant Business Manager

Assists the Business Manager and the Department Chair in maintaining the goals and objectives of the department by managing the administrative, grant administration and support functions of the department, including, but not limited to, the following areas: Grant Management, Departmental Financial Management, Operations Management and Personnel Management. Pre- and post-award activity, along with payroll, protocols, training grants, and visas for Drs. Covey, DiAntonio, Johnson, Kroll, Micchelli, Morris, and Theunissen.

Connie Cooper, Research Administrator

This position manages the research administration and support functions of the Department including, but not limited to the following areas: Financial Management, Operations Management and Personnel Management. This position is also primarily responsible for maintaining the goals and objectives of the Protein Nucleic Acid Chemistry Laboratory in financial matters with responsibility for all accounting functions within administration. This position assists the department in maintaining its objectives regarding financial matters with responsibility for all accounting functions within administration. These functions include grant proposals, payrolls, purchasing approvals, maintenance of government and university compliance regulations, pre- and post-award activity, along with payroll, and protocols for Drs. Grant, Imai, Kornfeld, McNeill, Mokalled, Ornitz, Yoo, and Zhang.


Toni Hill, Assistant to the Chair

Supports the Department Chair, including but not limited to maintaining calendar, arranging meetings and appointments, general organization, travel, proofing correspondence and grant submission materials, orchestrating appointment/promotion process, pre and post award grant administration, department recruitmentment process and handling general correspondence. In addition, this position coordinates two named lectures each year, the David M Kipnis and the Oliver H. Lowry Lecture, the annual departmental holiday party and various other departmental functions/activities. Toni also serves as the department's Diversity & Inclusion liaison.


Connie Austin, Administrative Coordinator

This position serves as the "Information Desk" and will direct individuals to the appropriate administrative personnel. This position coordinates office functions (meetings, parties, food, etc.); processes Federal Express and UPS shipments and payments, reports and submits work order requests for departmental issues to facilities, custodial services, key requests and telecommunications; reconciles phone bills. This position also processes travel advances, travel reports and payments for Procurement Card transactions; disseminates Interdepartmental Invoices to labs for payment approval; and is the department liaison for ID Badges and Transportation (parking).


Kati Riebold, Accounting/Purchasing Assistant I

Sends interdepartmental invoices, as well as manual invoices for the following services: DNA Sequencing, DNA Synthesis, Protein Sequencing, Histology, Zebrafish Facility use, Microscope use, Electron Microscopy, Dry Ice use, Gel Reading, Kodak use, Fly Food Preparation, Glass Washing Services, MNMR, and three Applied Biosystems department freezers; stocks and orders freezer items (e.g., molecular biological reagents) for three departmental freezers, as well as placing custom orders for customers who wish to purchase items that we do not stock regularly.


Connie Haynes, Senior Department Accounting Assistant

This position serves as the Purchasing Agent for the department. Processes purchase orders submitted through Marketplace, blanket purchase orders, line invoices, change orders and check requests. Obtains purchase orders and maintains tracking of departmental maintenance contracts; monitors open encumbrances and ensures timely receiving and payment of invoices. This position also acts as liaison between vendors and departmental personnel.


Terry Gooch, Facilities Administrator

This position provides key administrative support for departmental facilities, renovations, safety, space systems, and equipment inventory; oversees the operations of departmental maintenance, equipment delivery, glassware washing, mail delivery, and any other departmental projects as needed.


Philippe Breton, Systems Manager


This position maintains the departmental information systems and provides IT assistance whenever it is required. The primary role of this position is to make sure that data is backed-up periodically and retrievable easily upon request and to ensure the network backbone is available and secure to all forms of electronic communications and transactions. This position also provides desktop support and system purchases.
